The 2010 Fall Charge Conferences will be scheduled between mid-October and mid-November. Please contact the Western District office if you have not already scheduled your meeting, or if you have questions about it.
Attached below is a summary of the 2010 Fall Charge Conference Reports that are due. The summary shows who is responsible for this report, where to find the required form (if needed) and how the report is to be handled. Most of the forms are on the Conference website in the "For Local Churches" section under "Local Church Forms." Two forms that are unique to the Western District All-Church Conference process are also attached below: the "Western District Hispanic Ministries Commitment" Form and the "Clergy Health and Wellness Agreement" Form.
If you have any questions or concerns as you prepare for your congregation's Charge Conference, please don't hesitate to contact me! -- Linda Grund-Clampit, Western District Administrative Assistant |

New Beginnings, New Opportunities
Throughout the year, we celebrate beginnings. The birth and resurrection of our Lord are two beginnings that have shaped the last two thousand years. On a much smaller scale, many of us are about to celebrate another beginning. In September, we begin the school year. Homes and churches resume the schedules set-aside during summer months. This adjustment in our time opens a window of opportunity.
As we begin this secular season, exactly how will we spend our time? For a moment, think about the “must do” schedule entries. Now look at the white space. Where in your time can you reach out to others? What time block in your church can be exclusively given to your neighborhood?

Faithful Abundance
When the poor ones who have nothing share with strangers,
When the thirsty water give unto us all,
When the crippled in their weakness strengthen others,
Then we know that God still goes that road with us,
Then we know that God still goes that road with us.
— “When the Poor Ones” The United Methodist Hymnal 434
Dear Friends,
Just a few weeks ago while on a Volunteer Mission Trip to Kenya, I was immersed in such things as building a home for AIDS orphans, painting classrooms with Kenyan youth, de-worming over a thousand children at three schools in an afternoon, touring the wards of a large area hospital that can only offer palliative care to cancer patients, witnessing abject poverty juxtaposed with the smiling faces of children and the deep faith and hope of Kenyan Christians.
I am still processing my Kenyan experiences. There will be more sharing to come. Today, I do want to share an experience where Jesus connected the dots between the Western District and Kenya.
