Latgawa
By Shannon Lewis
There is a place where the sidewalk ends,
Where the Madrone trees cool
And Little Butte Creek bends.
There is a place where the sidewalk ends,
Where we are all the same
And everything's right.
God even leaves on the light.
There is a place where the sidewalk ends,
And peace begins,
Where the children laugh
And their comfort circles grow.
Camp Latgawa is the place where community gives
And love for all lives –
The place where the sidewalk ends.

Did you know that the Oregon-Idaho United Methodist Church has multiple camp and retreat centers? Camp Magruder, Wallowa Lake Camp, Camp Latgawa, Alton L. Collins Retreat Center, Sawtooth Camp and Suttle Lake Camp are all a part of what makes our conference so unique. If you go to www.gocamping.org you will find a cornucopia of offerings to fit any age group.
Camping is ministry because it can bring God to those unchurched folks who would NEVER step inside a convential church building or setting. Someone brings a friend, a neighbor, a sister...and God's power is suddenly transfered to a new disciple.
When you support the Time to Grow Campaign you will be supporting these camps directly...so donate today by clicking the button at the top of the page or call Rev. Bill Hays @ 541-974-7207! |

TIME TO GROW:
It all starts with camping and you don’t know where you will go from there…..maybe Guatemala?
Time to Grow is the Capital Campaign for the OR-ID United Methodist Church. It has three components. One is to raise money for camp and retreat centers in OR-ID, another is to raise funds for a camp in Mississippi and one in Lemoa, Guatemala, and finally another portion is for expanding the services of the Northwest United Methodist Foundation that will help sustain the OR-ID UM church programs.
This is a story of passion and inspiration and will focus on San Sebastian Lemoa in the Quiche department of Guatemala, otherwise known as Camp Bob Buescher. This camp was created in 1995 and today has grown to contain: a chapel, women’s and men’s dorms, classrooms, meeting halls and also the start of a United Methodist Seminary. The camp provides a venue for Christian retreat and education, serving other Christian denominations in the area. |
