TeachUM provides an opportunity for persons to share God's grace through using their specialized gifts, training and experience in faithful service in educational projects around the globe.

  • teachUM will connect institutions and people who have educational needs with persons who have the skills and expertise to meet those needs.
  • teachUM will place volunteers where they work alongside others to empower and equip with skills to provide leadership in order to empower and equip others.
  • While providing educators an opportunity to serve in unfamiliar cultures, teachUM will increase the awareness, sensitivity and commitment of the volunteers to learn from those whom they serve, to build bridges and to be faithful servants of Jesus Christ.
  • Through the participation of those teachUM volunteers, the program will generate support for educational endeavors of the United Methodist Church in terms of additional volunteers, materials, funding and spiritual undergirding.

For those who are ready to love, listen and share—
teachUM may be for you if

      • You love people and sharing your gifts
      • You love learning from everyone you meet
      • You believe Jesus came to save the whole world
      • You are a good listener
      • You know there is more than one right answer
      • All of the above

teachUM is a volunteer ministry opportunity that:

  1. Connects persons and organizations in the U.S. and abroad with needs and persons with passion and skills that can meet needs
  2. Provides opportunities for teachers, administrators, teacher aides, counselors, ESL teachers, VBS teachers and all others who desire to teach by sharing their knowledge and expertise to work with persons who want to learn

We need you back in the classroom to help raise the learning curve for God's children.
