Gertrude Boyd Crane Scholarship/Application
Dr. Gertrude Boyd Crane, an educator and ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, spent her life educating people in areas related to church work. Upon her death, a scholarship was established in her honor and is awarded annually to women in the Oregon-Idaho Conference. United Methodist Women administer and award these scholarships to women who, in addition to being a member of the conference, hold an undergraduate degree, have been accepted into an accredited graduate school, and plan to enter a church related vocation and serve in the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference. Need is a major consideration.
The amount given to a candidate depends on: (1) How much interest is available for the year, and (2) How many scholarships are awarded.

Oregon-Idaho Conference Undergraduate Leadership Award Program
An $800 scholarship is available for one United Methodist undergraduate student from each district within the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference--a total of five scholarships. Apply by April 11. 2008. [ Download/View File ]

Oregon-Idaho Conference Merit Award Program
A $750 scholarship is available for one undergraduate or graduate student attending any United Methodist-related institution of higher education included on the list at www.gbhem.org/gbhem/college.html. Apply before April 11, 2008. [ Download/View File ]

Oregon-Idaho Conference Ethnic Minority Leadership Award Program
A $750 scholarship is available for one ethnic minority United Methodist undergraduate or graduate student from the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference. [ Download/View File ]

Other Methodist Scholarships and Loans
Other Methodist scholarships are available through the Methodist Church national headquarters as well as loans of up to $5,000 per year at 5% interest. For information go to www.gbhem.org the site of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry.
